Stitch Fix Review

I've heard so many things, good and bad, about Stitch Fix*. I've been dying to try it out but the $20 Styling fee always dissuaded me. I know that it applies towards anything you keep but I what if I didn't like anything? So when my favorite daily newsletter* offered styling fee waiver, I jumped on it! What's to lose? I could try it and even if I sent everything back I wouldn't be out 20 bucks.

Kalu Lace Sleeve Blouse in Cobalt ($58)

I loved this top! Cobalt/Royal Blue is my favorite color and the cut was super flattering. The only thing I was super about were the sleeves. I liked the lace but they were a cap sleeve cut and it felt like "a hat on a hat." Not that that matters because I would've worn a cardigan or fly-away with it anyways. The only thing that had me decide no was the price, even 10 dollars cheaper would've sold me. A-

Jacqueline Skinny Pant in Black ($78)

I actually really liked these pants a lot! But I already own several pairs similar colored, DenimFlex pants from Maurices. And those are about a third the price, so back these pants went. B+

Asa Knit Blazer in Black ($68)

This blazer felt both too formal AND too casual. I mentioned I wanted items I could dress up or down and this blazer feels like neither. In the future I'd rather go for a more formal cardigan or fly-away or a structured, suit seperates-style blazer. D

Florent Peplum Knit Top in Burgundy ($48)

This top, no. I pulled it out of the box and wasn't an immediate fan. Optimistically, I thought maybe it'd be one of those scenarios where it's meh on the rack but ends up looking great on the bod. Unfortunately, this wasn't that scenario.

The top says it's a peplum top and that's a generous description. It's fitted in the bust and flairs out below the bust-line. And that's pretty much how it fit me: very well in the chest but then boxy through the "peplum" body. I did like the color, though. C-

Laney Floral Collar Necklace ($28)

I'm a simple girl when it comes to jewelry. I wear simple pearl or diamond (cubic zirconia, let's be real) studs when I do wear earrings. My necklaces are mostly dainty pendants and I'm always game for more of those. I do have few statement pieces thrown in, one of which is a floral collar. In short, a good try but too similar to a piece I already own. Solid C

Overall Thoughts on Stitch Fix

This was fun, promise! I got to try a service without having to pay upfront for the experience. Filling out the Style Profile, waiting for delivery day, finally examining everything and trying pieces on. In the end there were some great contenders and no winners. I did give feedback on each item received and updated a few sizes and style preferences in my profile. I think I'll schedule another fix around November or December to add some holiday pieces to my wardrobe.
