Music has always had a way of nurturing my heart. These are the songs I've been setting on repeat the past month and a half. Enjoy!
Waving through a Window from Dear Evan Hansen
Okay, so the entire soundtrack of the Broadway show is ah-mazing, but Waving through a Window just hits me right in the "what am I doing, where am I going, will I be there soon" feels. (You can read more about those feels here.)
Lake Michigan by ROGUE WAVE
I time my commute playlists so that this song plays as I merge on I794 over the Hoan Bridge. It makes me feel like I'm in an indie movie while I stare at the Lake and the freeway.
The Night We Met by Lord Huron
A.K.A. that song from Thirteen Reasons Why. This is another "I'm in an indie movie and I'm not mad about it" song.
Georgia by Ron Pope
Can't you just imagine yourself driving from a small Texas town to the DFW Airport while this melody lingers in the background? And yes, that is inspired by true events. *wink*
Les Champs-Elysées by Joe Dassin
This one feels like a sweet, slightly cheesy Rom-Com: two strangers meet, fall in love, and enjoy everything you could ever want "aux Champs-Elysées." Also this song is great for a student's ear; lots of examples of the imperfect and simple past tenses. Also it's a relatively slow song and Dassin sings very clearly. Très bien.
I Shall Not Want by Audrey Assad
It's like the Litany of Humility and the Litany of Trust had a beautiful, little music baby. This song has been the underlying prayer of my heart this summer. #DeliverMe
